Kahlil Deerman’s passion for glass began while a student at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. After completing his Bachelors in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado in 2000, Kahlil dedicated himself to the exploration of many flameworking techniques. The glass he uses is a high strength borosilicate commonly referred to as “pyrex”. Initially developed for scientific purposes, in recent years borosilicate glasses have been utilized by artistic flameworkers. As borosilicate flameworking matures, so does the availability of new colors and tools, which in turn reflects the constant improvement in Kahlil’s work.
