If you can't describe Santiago Calatrava's Quadracci Pavilion at the Milwaukee Art Museum, even with 1000 words, perhaps a picture is better.
As part of the pavilion's design, architect Calatrava created a giant white sunscreen in the shape of wings that open and close. This 90-ton moving sculpture, named the Burke Brise Soleil, has no comparison in the world of architecture, and visitors find themselves in awe at the beauty and spectacle of the lovely, graceful "wings".
This pocket-sized, photographic flipbook animates the Brise Soleil's motion as it gracefully closes and opens as it does every day at noon, weather permitting. Adults and children alike will be captivated by this unique souvenir and tribute to the Milwaukee Art Museum's pride and glory.
