This catalogue of the Milwaukee Art Museum exhibition Elusive Signs: Bruce Nauman Works with Light (January 28 - April 9, 2006) highlights the artist's neon and light-room installations, a visually engaging and intellectually provocative body of work in which light defines the artist's language. The volume features works found not only in the exhibition but also spanning the last 30 years of the artist's career, including examples of the artist's sculptures, drawings, and videos.

Bruce Nauman has been recognized since the early 1970s as one of America's most innovative and provocative contemporary artists. This is Nauman's first solo exhibition in Wisconsin, his home state.
