"Big Love" Spoon Designed by Miriam Mirri for Alessi
For generations, the Alessi family has been involved in metal work and design. In the 1950's, they began to collaborate with artists, architects and designers to produce items for the home. The stylish and fun items offered are the result of contemporary partnerships with some of the world's best designers of unique and modern home accessories.
This delightful stainless steel spoon is one of the first results of Alessi's famous F.F.F. (Family Follows Fiction) metaproject. The F.F.F. was an operation in the early 1990s that aimed to explore the affective structure of shapes and objects, starting from the idea of reproducing the object creation process followed by children and primitive cultures. The result is a family of playful objects reminiscent of fairytale characters: they offer attractive answers to everyday uses, they suggest mediation through playing, and they're a bridge to the world of the imagination. The "Big Love" spoon plays lovingly with the "To" Mug, also designed by Miriam Mirri with a heart-shape.
