In 1956 the State of New South Wales ran an international competition for a National Opera House at Bennelong Point, Sydney. This attracted more than 220 entries from 32 countries. Jørn Utzon a young Danish architect won the competition. Completed in 1973 the Opera House was instantly hailed as an architectural masterpiece and was included in Australia's National Heritage List in 2005.
In 2007 the building was inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO which declared that, "Sydney Opera House is a great architectural work of the 20th century. It represents multiple strands of creativity, both in architectural form and structural design, a great urban sculpture carefully set in a remarkable waterscape and a world-famous iconic building."
Each kit comes complete with all required parts and clear, easy to follow instructions. Completed Dimensions: 12.25"L x 9"W x 3.75"H. Assembly time is approximately 15 hours. Ages 15 and up.
